White rock stacks just a few metres from the shore.

  • The entrance to the Grotta Zinzulusa, at sea level.

    Grotta Zinzulusa

    Caves and nature

One of the best-known sea caves on the Adriatic coast.

Its name comes from the formations hanging from the roof, which in the local dialect call to mind rags hung out to dry. Visits are guided, along a route that enters the rock at sea level.

  • The seafront at Santa Cesarea Terme with its late-19th-century villas.

    Santa Cesarea Terme

    Spas and wellbeing

The town of sulphur springs, overlooking the sea.

Four natural caves bring up sulphur water at a constant temperature, and the town grew up around them. Along the seafront stand the late-19th-century villas, with their Moorish-style domes.

  • The small harbour of Castro Marina below the old town.

    Santa Maria di Leuca

    Villages and old towns

The tip of Italy’s heel, where two seas meet.
